My today’s recipe 19/09/22 is peanut chikki like to cook and eat natural, healthy, and tasty foods, and I enjoy sharing recipes from my native Indian cuisine.
INGRIDIENTS:
2 cups peanuts
2 cups + 2 tablespoons powdered jaggery
1 teaspoon ghee.
INSTRUCTION:
Grease a rectangle or square tray with ghee. With this, you can make perfect square-shaped chikkis. (I used a round pan, as I didn’t have a square one.)Heat a deep-bottomed pan. Add peanuts. Saute on a low fire, stirring continuously, until peanuts become crispy. This may take about 5 to 6 minutes.
Transfer them to a plate. Set aside to cool.Once the peanuts are completely cool, rub them between your palms to remove the skin.
Do this little by little. Break each peanut in half, and remove the small part inside the halves. Discard these, as they are bitter. Don’t worry if a few are left.
They won’t spoil the taste.Heat the same deep-bottomed pan. Add jaggery powder and 2 tablespoons of water. Stir and boil the mix on low fire until the mixture froths. Continue boiling until this jaggery syrup reaches two-string consistency.
To test this, either you can drop a little syrup and see whether it falls like two strings at the end, or you can drop some syrup into the water and see whether you can gather it and form a ball.
This is the right consistency for making the bars. Now, add peanuts. Mix them with the syrup. Boil the mix for 1 minute. Turn off the stove. Pour the mix into the greased tray.
The thickness of the slab should be about 1/3 inch. Gently tap the sides to ensure that the mix spreads evenly. Put the tray aside and let it set. After 5 minutes, when the mix is still hot, draw out the squares with the help of a greased knife tip.
Don’t insert the knife too deep into the bar. After another 5 to 8 minutes, insert the knife tip exactly on the earlier lines, deep inside, and cut the pieces. Take them out one by one once you can move them from the base.
These bars become super crunchy once they are completely cold. So, now your scrumptious peanut chikki is ready to serve. Munch them whenever you desire. Enjoy eating these yummy bars.
Mehndi: Mehndi is also included in the sixteen makeup of women. Be it any festival, women definitely apply mehndi on their hands. Mehndi on hands not only enhances the beauty of a woman but it is also considered auspicious.
The color of mehndi blooms completely on the palms of some women, but the color of mehndi of some women remains yellow.
If you want that your hands also have a deep color of henna, then you can apply natural henna made of jaggery.
It takes only 5 minutes to apply henna made from jaggery.
Ingredients for making Mehndi from Jaggery:
100 grams jaggery pieces
2 tsp henna powder
1 tsp roli kumkum or vermilion
30 grams cloves
50 grams sugara
tin box
a small earthen lamp or bowl
How to make Mehndi from Jaggery:
To make henna from jaggery, if you want, grind jaggery or use it in small pieces like this.
2- Now put the jaggery in a tin box and make a little space in the middle and put cloves and sugar.
3- Now place an earthen lamp or a small bowl on top of the sugar and cloves. If you want, you can set the bowl with the help of wet flour.
4- Put roli or kumkum in this bowl and keep the tin box on the gas.
5- Now put a pot or other vessel filled with water over the box and cover it with flour from all sides so that the steam does not escape.
6- In a while the box will start heating from inside and steam will start coming out. You have to keep it like this for about half an hour, after which the steam will become water and collect in the bowl kept inside.
7- Now remove the top water vessel comfortably and you will see that the water has collected in the bowl you have kept inside. Now add mehndi to it.
8- Your henna made from jaggery is ready. You can easily apply it on hands or feet.
9- If you want, you can also use this henna without adding green henna powder.
10- The color of the mehndi of jaggery is very dark and it can be applied anywhere on the hands or feet.
Foil painting means a shiny, slippery surface. Paint moves around easily so look around your house for things that might work.
Anything that won’t tear into the foil is a possibility. Cotton balls and Q-tips are a good place to start.
Painting aluminum foil is a fun activity to do with kids of all ages as well as adults, since the paint glides onto the foil smoothly and dries quickly.
Art provide a platform for the artist for expressing their ideas and talents. Art is an interpretation of different kinds of emotions , thoughts, and expressions via human creativity .
I always try to use recycled materials for crafting projects. Almost everyone have piles of papers (newspaper, brown paper, magazine paper etc.) around their houses. It’s about time we turned them into something useful!
Materials needed to make these paper baskets are:-
1) Paper (newspaper, brown paper, colored paper, magazine paper… any kind of paper)
2) Anti-cutter,
3) Scissor,
4) Glue
5) Scotch tape,
6) Cardboard or thick paper.
STEP 1: PAPER STRIPS
I used brown paper strips to make the baskets. At first, you have to cut the papers into strips of 1.5 inch width. Then fold them into half inch width and keep the length about 12 inches or more. Make as many as you can.
STEP 2: PAPER BASKET – 1
First, take 16 strips and divide them into half. Lay out 8 strips vertically and 8 strips horizontally as shown in the first picture of this step. Tighten the weave carefully to make sure that all the sides are even. Now build up the sides. Take a strip and go around the sides as shown in the picture. Keep about half to 1 inch of the strip to fold at the end. while folding the remaining part of the strip use scotch tape or glue to make sure they don’t come out. The square paper basket is ready!
STEP 3: PAPER BASKET – 2
You’ll need cardboard or thick paper to make a round figure (to make the base of the basket) and of course, paper strips. Take 8 paper strips. At first take 2 strips and glue them at the middle, which forms a cross. Now, do the same with the rest of the strips and make sure to glue them at the middle. After laying all the 8 strips together they should look like a star (as shown in the picture).
STEP 4: PAPER BASKET – 3
To make this basket you’ll need a round piece cut out from cardboard and strips of 0.5 cm width. Use super glue to stick 12 strips with the round cardboard plate. Now hold few strips up as shown in the picture. Take another strip and start weaving by circling around. After weaving the first strip you won’t need to hold the paper strips up as they will remain straight themselves. Keep weaving around the basket, but keep about half to 1 inch of the strips at the end. Fold the remaining parts of the strips inside and glue them. You can use extra papers to make borders to.
STEP 5: PAPER BASKET – 4
Take even number of strips to make this basket, it makes it easier. Lay out 4 strips (regular strips as I’ve shown at the first step) vertically and 4 strips horizontally. Tighten the weave carefully and make sure the strips are even. I’ve shown the folding lines in the first picture of this step. Fold up the strips of any one side and start weaving by placing one strip over the other (as shown in the second-1 picture of this step). This kind of weaving will form a corner as you can see in the second-2 picture.
STEP 6: PAPER BASKET – 5
To make this basket you can use all the remaining strips, so that they don’t get wasted. Stick all the remaining strips together vertically with glue or scotch tape. Cut out an oval shape from cardboard or thick paper. Now take the strip and glue it with the oval shaped cardboard plate (as shown in the picture). Start coiling up carefully and continue gluing the strip until it’s finish. When the strip comes to an end fold it inside and use glue to make sure it doesn’t come out.
These are the 5 easy and simple paper basket weaving. I’ll be crafting more paper baskets using different patterns very soon and try to add more details in the crafting.
I hope you enjoy making them. :)
