These photographs were taken at the bustling Kansat mango market in Chapainawabganj district, Bangladesh. Every day during the mango season, local farmers transport their harvests to the market by bicycle, each carrying up to 200 kg of mangoes. This vibrant market operates only three months a year—May, June, and July—and is considered the largest mango market in the country. Approximately 1,200 tons of mangoes are traded here daily. Mangoes are sold in units called ‘mon’ (equivalent to 40 kg), with each mon fetching between £10 and £12. Labourers, who transport the fruit to market, typically earn between £1 and £2 per day.
