Born and brought up in Mumbai, India, as the youngest of three boys (musketeers), I moved to the US for graduate studies and have lived in a few countries since. I'm a Mechanical Engineer from IIT Bombay and hold a Master's in Management Sciences (O.R. & Finance) from Case Western Reserve University — yet I have practiced neither mechanical engineering nor finance in my jobs. All of my professional experience has instead been in analytics and supply chain.
Talents: Untalented and still getting by! Most people who have met me will say I am a very passionate person — energetic and empathic in enabling others. People often ask, "How come you wake up with energy every morning?" My answer is simple: when you do what you love and love what you do.
Passion Projects: Only started three years ago — working to serve others less fortunate than us.
Milestones: Entering IIT Bombay (I was about to sign up for Med School in Bombay) · surviving my first semester without failing a subject — I likely cried more in that first semester than in my first year of birth, due to a bruised ego! · graduating from IIT Bombay and building lifelong friendships · my first job pricing mortgage-backed securities.
In the corporate world, I lived by my motto: "Work Hard, Play Hard, Have Fun (at what you do)."
In my personal life, and now in my third innings, I've leaned on what I learned from my father, a social worker: "Takers may eat better, but the givers will sleep better." "Get a lot more from giving than from taking." Leave a "Legacy of Goodwill" — that's what my father's memoir was called.
Over the years I've cooked and served in food/fodder pantries, stocked shelves, worked with disabled individuals, and supported young children's education and feeding — and for a long time, that was all for me, to make me feel good. Now, serving others full time, it feels like I'm finally doing something for them.
To touch and impact as many rural Indian children and less-fortunate individuals as I can — driving change in their health, education, and welfare.
I have been blessed to work with people far smarter and far more talented than me. My approach: guide them, let them grow their strengths and contribute alongside them, highlight possible roadblocks and work with them to overcome those, walk in their shoes, and put their priorities above mine.
A team member once told me something I'll always carry: "We were skeptical when you came aboard to manage us — a bunch of PhDs — when you did not have a doctorate. But you supported us and campaigned for our ideas." That's the best leadership lesson I've received.
Humility and empathy go a long way in earning trust, empowering teams, and learning from the best.

I was brought up in a family of boys — my two sons, Ritesh and Dheerav, ensure we understand the challenges of raising three boys! Himal, an Electronics and Telecom Engineer, ensures sanity on the home front amid all the insanity the three boys bring home.
Ritesh graduated from UCLA (Computer Science) and works at RadiantLogic. Dheerav graduated from UCSD (Biology), spent 3+ years in tech consulting, and is now going back to school to become a nurse.
The family loves to travel — learning about other cultures, people, and cuisines firsthand. Over the years we've traveled across numerous countries imbibing local culture, including Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Costa Rica, Greece, Mexico, Dubai, and closer to home, California.
We're the "do-it" family on vacation — we love adventure sports: white-water rafting, zip-lining, parasailing, paragliding, snorkeling, scuba, deep-sea jet skiing, ATVs, jet boating, sky-diving, and more. We have fun as we travel (but no bungee jumping!).
