I am Memoona Irshad, a law student, a political science student, and a writer. Being a woman in Pakistan who understands the legal rights given by our constitution, I feel a deep responsibility to share this knowledge with others.
In my country, many people use the cover of religion to impose patriarchal rules, but the Islamic rules they quote are often just cultural norms, not true Islamic teachings. Most people in Pakistan are uneducated about both their legal rights and their moral duties. This lack of awareness keeps our social condition poor.
What makes me stand out is my ability to simplify complex legal concepts into everyday language. As a writer, I know how to make information accessible. As a law student, I have the knowledge. As a political science student, I understand the system. And as a Pakistani woman, I live the reality.
My achievements include completing my legal studies (ongoing), writing on social issues, and now launching my first community project. I am not waiting until I graduate to make a difference. I am starting now, in my neighborhood, with a printed Urdu guide and a group of teenage girls.
My project will teach at least 20-30 girls about:
· Their status and rights in Islam
· Their constitutional protections (e.g., right to education, right to safety)
· How to recognize and resist cultural practices wrongly justified as religion
And also we'll connect with each other to empower more women.
Additionally I will create social media posts to make people aware of their moral and legal duties to make our system work better.
I will document this journey through weekly Instagram posts, collect voice testimonials (with parental consent), and submit a final video presentation. My long-term vision is to expand this to more communities.
I am a dreamer becoming a doer. That is what makes me stand out.
